This week we have had a stomach bug... well all of us except Bethany however she managed to escape is beyond me. The bug has thrown us out of sorts but we are all much better now.The only good thing about being not well is as you can see from the photo we watched Little House on the Prairie and played with lego!

Last Monday was the Girls Brigade Nativity play and it went very well.Bethany was Ceasar Augustus and Lydia was Mary.
We also have had our nativity play in Gorgie yesterday.
It was great fun. Jonathan is dressed up as Frankincense, just in case you couldn't work it out!

Now all the meals have ended and parties at Gorgie are over, we are concentrating on Christmas for ourselves. Tonight we are off to a party at Caroles house so that should be fun... after the dentist. (yuck)!
Jonathan's toe is still not mended yet and he is now on to his fifth antibiotic so hopefully he will get a chance to rest it over these days and see a big improvement.
I trust you have a great Christmas day with your families. Enjoy it! Remember the real reason for this season.

Yesterday at the nativity we were speaking about a Christmas cracker... inside comes a joke, normally twee but fun, it really is fun to live for Christ. There is also a free gift inside a cracker... not exactly something you can't live without but nonetheless it is a gift, of course Jesus is our free gift from Heaven to a manger, to a cross. There is also a hat... a crown shape reminding us that the King of Kings wants to be part of our lives. No matter who you are, He is interested in you! Make time for Him this Christmas. That is what I will be trying to do... join me?
Speak to you soon! With love Elizabeth. xx

We have been practicing very hard in Sunday School for our Nativity play which will be shown next Sunday. Yesterday we were really glad to have Mark and Rhonda Beattie come in the morning and share with us their plans for going to Russia as Missionaries. They stayed for lunch... leftovers from our Christmas party on Friday night.
We had just over 40 at it.
This past week the coffee morning also ended this session with a Christmas dinner!

We are turkeyed out and it isn't even Christmas day yet!

On Wednesday we had a good time with the homeschool group in Gorgie Mission. I did over an hour of games with them so by the next day my legs had seized up... another sign of my age! Then they had loads of crafts and songs and stories so they all had a great time.
Lydia has got herself a little tummy bug and is not feeling very well today. Hopefully she will recover soon as she is Mary in the Girls Brigade nativity tonight. Bethany is Ceasar Augustus!!
We had the privilege of Stuart staying with us last night on his way back to Skye from Norfolk. We had a blast and while he was here we looked up the house we had claimed as ours in Skye on the estate agents website. It had a big taken sign across it. Small disappointment for a few minutes led to the absolute knowledge that our God is in control and we have no doubt if that is the one that is for us it will be ready for us at just the right time. Not ours but His! Perhaps He has somewhere else in store. It is great that we are not in control of these things. Hudson Taylor said "God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply" He will supply the house... without doubt! Trust Him these days for your lives. So often we as Christians miss out on so much as we are so self sufficient. We need to be much more reliant on God and then we will see great things that He can do!
God bless you this week as you prepare to celebrate the birth of our Saviour. Love Eliz. xx

Here we are!

Every other post is entitled "I've Returned". So here's another one.
In the intervening days much has gone on in our lives. Wilma, my sister who is a missionary in Greece came home for a few days and us girls went to visit "Granny" in Fort William. We had a good time and spent some time with My Gran who will be 99 in February.

My brother Neil and Sister in law Kath came for one of the days while we were there so we had a lot of fun.
Gorgie Mission's evening service folks had a nice meal out. It is good as a fellowship to get together and spend some time.
We have spent a lot of time with friends.

We went with the homeschool group to Holyrood Palace. It was great and I am not ashamed to say something of that size in Skye would be great!!!!! I don't fancy the dusting though!
The girls had a big haircut too. Done by the professional hairdresser..... me! If a hairdresser saw it they may have a heart attack!

We have had a Thanksgiving party and one of the girls from Girls Brigade came with her mum and they are coming back to our Christmas party this week. It is all go now for Christmas.
Today we have been to the GB carol service. It is sad to see that so many organisations are suffering from the lack of girls and boys being committed enough to go and to keep going. It is a lesson for us that we remain committed entirely to Jesus and we show Him to be worthy of our commitment. Blessings, Eliz. xx

MAF Sunday!

Sunday: Had a great and informative day with the Mission Aviation Fellowship representative at Gorgie. It is amazing that these Christian pilots make such a difference by flying their planes in to some of the remotest parts of the world. He told us a story about a lady who was the first Christian in a village, one of the MAF reps had gone out and was told to go and visit with this lady. He entered her mud hut and saw she had nothing. No furniture or ornaments. He asked her about being the first Christian in the village and what that was like, she looked around and said, "I owe it all to Jesus". We in the western world are so comfortable and often we thank only ourselves. She was grateful for the very little she had in this worlds goods because she was rich in Jesus.

A good Week!

This week has been full and varied!!! On Sunday evening we met up with a friend who is working with Child Evangelism Fellowship in Northern Ireland. Another home Missionary! It was great to hear of the work amongst boys and girls that she does. She also does ladies' meetings. They have the title, "Inward, Outward Beauty".
The Coffee morning on Tuesday was the first in November obviously and the epilogue was on making Christmas His Story! I know I am early but we are being bombarded already with advertisements on toys and gifts.
Even some baking was done... even if it does look a bit yucky!

On Thursday evening, Marian and Lindsay came over to do the study on A mum after God's own heart. I am learning a lot from this study like commentators think that Daniel, Shadrach, Mesach and Abednego were probably between 14-17 years of age! I have a mental picture of them being about 30's or 40's. The study made us think of the parentage of these young boys and it asked us to think what we would like for our children to do in that position.

Last night we were out with Gorgie Mission for a meal. It was a beautiful dinner and we enjoyed it very much. The girls have been staying the night with their Auntie Nora and this morning have gone of to Dobbies garden centre to see the Christmas displays. Now it is time for me to get ready for Sunday school. I don't have to do a children's talk as tomorrow a man from mission aviation fellowship is coming to speak at both meetings and has some pictures to show the wee ones about his work. I'll let you know how it all goes!!! Okay I am off. Keep praying for your Missionaries both in this land and abroad and may you have a great week!

Old? Friends!

We have had a great time away on our Missionary journeys. We met up with Johnathan and Janet again. They are settling well into their new post in York. It does take a while to get to grips with a new place, the people and culture and such like are different no matter if you just move a few miles or if you move hundreds of miles.
Stephen and Cynthia are doing brilliantly in the work in Norfolk.

They have really found their ministry niche and are very happy. We were able to see Stephen at work when we went to the holiday Bible clubs he was having in a local town called Diss. This is the church that it was held in.
Our girls very much enjoyed the fun and then we got to see the action when we went to the family night. This winter Stephen who is a mechanic is reaching out to the local community by doing free winter checks on the locals cars. What a brilliant way of using your God given talents for ministry.
We girls have been all go since we got back. Yesterday we were at our friends birthday party. The girlies had a blast. Today we went to see our old neighbours in Penicuik after church. It was great seeing a couple of the families and spending some time having a chat. This morning at Church actually another old face turned up. A fellow who used to come and stay in a caravan at the camp centre in Cork where we lived and now he and his young family are at the Bible college here in Edinburgh.
Tonight we have spent some time with another old friend from Faith Mission days. She is now working with Child Evangelism Fellowship. It is always great to see the way God leads and guides people to where He wants them to be. Is god leading you today? Is He in control of your life? He is just waiting to be asked! Make it today. Love Elizabeth. xx

Away again!!

Hello did you think I had disappeared??? Well I had. It has been a busy old time and I have been feeling a wee bit under pressure so something had to give. Just fancied a wee chat though so here I am. Perhaps I will try and keep it updated just every so often for a while.
The girls are off at One way club tonight which they love. We have had a day in the house as we girlies are suffering a wee bit with the cold. We have a few days off starting today. We are going to spend tomorrow around the house and then we are heading to York for an overnight stay to see Johnathan and Janet and then we are going to spend some days with our great friends Stephen and Cynthia and their kids Matthew and Emily. I am so looking forward to seeing them and finding out about the work they are involved in around the village they live in. They are seeking to use the opportunities that are there to tell people of the great freedom that is found in Jesus.
The Church is going on without us as you would imagine and we are grateful that we now have one or two folks on whom we can call to take over while we are away.

We are no further forward with the house in Skye except that we have seen it and like it and now it is the waiting game!!! I'm not so good at that!
Anyhow I hope you are well and I will be in touch again after our break.
Take care, love Elizabeth. xx
